RTX 3000 Series

After 2 years since the release of the RTX 2000 series, we have finally received news of the long-awaited RTX 3000 series at the beginning of the month (01/09/2020).

Gamers have long awaited the arrival of NVIDIA’s RTX 3000 series, especially after the countless rumours and performance expectations following the announcement of the Ampere architecture.

The newly released RTX 3000 series is constructed with NVIDIA’s Ampere architecture announced earlier this year (2020).

NVIDIA has continuously led the industry in the graphics department, and everyone expects AMD to mount a competitive and high-end release this year, so naturally, one would expect NVIDIA to challenge the market with a competitive release as well.

Cards

The RTX 3000 series consists of three GPUs, RTX 3090, 3080, and 3070, with the spotlight shining on the RTX 3080, the focal point of this lineup. The RTX 3080 GPU, much like its predecessor, the RTX 2080, comes with three different core types within the GPU; Shader, Ray Tracing, and Tensor.

The most interesting aspect of this set of cards, from an experimental standpoint, is the new cooler design. NVIDIA published a rendered explosion of it, displaying a backplate that should hopefully utilize thermal pads to leverage the area. Followed by the PCB, which experienced a reduction in size for this generation.
