The RackStation RS815 4-Bay NAS Server from Synology is a scalable, 1U 4-bay rackmount NAS built to help businesses effectively store, protect, and share data. Enterprise features and stability are built into the hardware design, making it a well suited choice for growing small businesses with limited space or a limited budget. This unit has four drive bays, each of which natively supports 3.5″ and 2.5″ SATA III 6 Gb/s and SATA II 3 Gb/s hard drives and SSDs. Should users need to expand the overall capacity of their RS815, the optional RX415 expansion unit offers an additional four drive bays that are identical to those offered by the RS815.

The Rackstation RS815 is powered by a 1.33 GHz MARVELL Armada XP MV78230 Dual-Core processor, which will allow you to run multiple functions simultaneously. The built-in 1GB of DDR3 RAM will allow quick access to frequently-used files and programs. Network connectivity is achieved via the 2 x Gigabit Ethernet ports with failover support, which helps to provide redundancy in the case that a LAN connection malfunction occurs on one port. In addition, link aggregation, powered by four LAN ports, helps to increase connection speeds beyond the limits of a single network port or cable.

The RackStation RS815 runs on the DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, which offers helps simplify managing your RS815, as well as accessing and sharing data.
