The DS2015xs 8-Bay DiskStation NAS Server from Synology has eight drive bays, each capable of housing either 3.5″ or 2.5″ SATA III/SATA II hard drives. The DS2015xs also features an Annapurna Labs Alpine AL-514 quad-core 1.7 GHz processor along with 4GB of DDR3 RAM, which is expandable up to 8GB. Thanks to the high-speed processor the DiskStation can deliver up to 1,930.18 MB/s average sequential read throughput and 54,654.84 sequential read IOPS under RAID 5 configuration with VLAN.
To deliver these high read speeds to connected networks the DS2015xs has to SFP+ LAN ports that support 10GbE (10 Gb/s) network transfer speeds, along with two traditional Gigabit (1 Gb/s) Ethernet ports. The DS2015xs 8-bay DiskStation supports VMware, Citrix, and Hyper-V for virtualization environments and is VMware vSphere 5 and VAAI integration certified. Additionally, the DS2015xs can virtually replace more complex storage setups as it offers both Windows ACL and LDAP support allowing for easy integration into existing workgroup environments. If the current data capacity offered by the DS2015xs is not sufficient, then it can be connected to dedicated expansion units to expand storage capacity up to 108TB. The DS2015xs enclosure comes equipped with two 120 x 120mm fans. It is also equipped with two SFP+ LAN ports, two RJ-45 LAN ports, two USB 3.0 ports, one reset button, and an expansion port, thus making it easy to connect peripherals such as external hard drives, thumb drives, and more. The front panel of the enclosure features dedicated LED indicators to depict drive status, eight hard drive trays with tray locks, and one power button.Note: *Hard drives not included.
