Description
The D16000 JBOD DAS Array from Thecus is specifically designed for daisy-chaining, to increase volume with the benefits of fast transfers and infrastructure cost savings. The enclosure includes 16 bays and a backplane with SAS I/O ports. SAS SFF-8088 cables are required to link devices together. In a nutshell, the D16000 can be viewed as a large external hard drive coupled with each other for massive volume, hence the DAS (direct-attached storage). To expand volume with daisy chain, one master N16000 unit is required to guide the daisy-chaining, and then users are able to link up to four D16000 units as target units. SAS cables are utilized to link the units together to get rapid speeds. With this setup, users are able to obtain a volume of up to 320TB of storage space. A total of four D16000 can be added to the master N160000 unit through daisy-chaining. With enough space for 16 HDD each, you can expand your volume capacity with 64 additional disks.
Note: Additional LSI SAS 9200-8e HBA card is required. Extra HBA card must be installed on your NAS to daisy chain with D16000 unit. The card is only necessary while connecting the first D16000 to the host of NAS. For the second, third, and fourth D16000, card is not required.

- The D16000 has a simplified architectural design to perform as a DAS set-up in daisy chain only. This is designed to cut down the cost associated with volume expansion.

- A total of four additional D16000 can be added to the master N16000 unit through daisy-chaining. The enclosure expands the volume capacity with 64 additional disks with enough space for 16 HDDs in each D16000.
