Description
The Ubiquiti Networks AF-5U airFiber High-Band 5 GHz Carrier Class Point-to-Point Gigabit Radio is a point-to-point wireless platform for carrier backhaul, building-to-building enterprise use, or public safety applications. It operates in the license-free 5 GHz range from 5725 to 6200 MHz. Housed in a compact, highly efficient form factor, the airFiber delivers wireless gigabit+ performance at 1+ Gb/s, low latency, and long range transmissions up 62+ miles.
The airFiber can transmit data synchronously and features traditional TDD and FDD modes of operation. Based on the ranging algorithm built into the air protocol, the airFiber radio uses HDD technology to calculate the propagation delay and know when each radio can transmit and receive. This virtually eliminates packet transmission latency. The radio uses proprietary INVICTUS core communications processing engine for efficient operations. The AF5U airFiber features the Radio Alignment Display (RAD) that makes aiming quicker and easier. The dual, calibrated signal strength indicators display the actual signal strength on the local and remote airFiber radios in real time.
The airFiber features a dual-independent, 2×2 MIMO, high-gain reflector antenna system. Separate transmit and receive antennas eliminates the extra RF losses caused by the switches or duplexers required in systems with common TX/RX antennas. This radio features two complete antenna systems and a mechanical back‑plane that is constructed as a one-piece monocoque molding.
With plug-and- play operation, the airFiber Radio enables quick deployment. The sliding-clamp design of airFiber allows mounting hardware to be pre‑assembled prior to installation. It also features the drop‑in cradle mount design that allows the installer to attach mounting hardware to the pole without having to support the weight of the airFiber radio during installation.
